Moot Proposition Overview
The 2026 case, Aarav Mehta & Ors. v. State of Varinia & Ors., focuses on a Constitution Bench hearing regarding the validity of a state-enacted Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Key issues involve the intersection of the UCC with the Special Marriage Act (SMA), constitutional privacy rights, bigamy allegations arising from a "nikah-style" ceremony, and the impact of the UCC on ancestral coparcenary property rights.
