NUALS National Policy Drafting Competition 2026
The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) Kochi, through its Centre for Consumer Protection Law and Policy (CCPLaP) and in collaboration with the Orpheus Sabha Foundation, presents the inaugural edition of the National Policy Drafting Competition.

Theme and Focus
The central theme for 2026 is "Protecting Consumers in the Insurance Market". The event seeks to address regulatory gaps in India's insurance sector, focusing on issues like misleading information, claim settlement delays, and mis-selling.

Sub-themes include (but are not limited to):
AI-driven insurance underwriting and decision-making.
Climate-induced disaster insurance and national catastrophe funds.
Farmer-centric insurance for climate risks.
Embedded insurance in the Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) ecosystem.
Insurance adjudication and claim certainty.

Registration Deadline: 1st February 2026
Policy Submission Deadline: 5th February 2026
PPT Submission (for presentations): 6th February 2026
Online Policy Presentation: 8th February 2026

Eligibility and Teams
Participants: Open to undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and research scholars from any discipline.
Team Composition: Individual entries or teams of up to two members are permitted. Cross-institutional teams are eligible.

Individual Participant: INR 177 (INR 150 + 18% GST)
Team of Two: INR 354 (INR 300 + 18% GST)

Submission Guidelines
Language: English only.
Formatting: Times New Roman, Size 12, 1.5 line spacing. Footnotes should be Size 10 with 1.0 spacing.
Citation Style: Bluebook (20th edition).
Originality: Plagiarism must not exceed 15%. Predominantly AI-generated content is strictly discouraged and may lead to disqualification.
Anonymity: Submissions must only contain the assigned Team Code; any other identifying marks will lead to disqualification.

2nd Prize: INR 6,000 + Certificate of Merit
3rd Prize: INR 4,000 + Certificate of Merit
4th & 5th Prize: INR 1,000 + Certificate of Merit
