2nd National Moot Court Competition on Consumer Protection Laws 2026. Hosted by the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, Register by January 31

The 2nd National Moot Court Competition on Consumer Protection Laws is a premier national-level event scheduled for early 2026. Hosted by the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, in collaboration with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, this competition provides a platform for law students to tackle complex issues such as e-commerce regulation, misleading advertisements, and product defects.

Key Dates and Timeline
The competition follows a strict schedule starting at the beginning of the year:

Registration and Proposition Release: 
Both the registration period and the release of the moot proposition begin on January 1, 2026.
Registration Deadline:
Interested teams must complete their registration and submit any clarifications by January 31, 2026.
Memorial Submission: The deadline for submitting written memorials is February 7, 2026.
Main Event: The oral rounds will take place from February 27 to March 1, 2026, at the NUSRL campus in Ranchi.

Prizes and Recognition
Participants have the opportunity to compete for a significant prize pool and high-level recognition:
Winning Team: Receives a prize of ₹25,000 and will be felicitated by the Hon'ble Minister of Consumer Affairs on World Consumer Rights Day, March 15, 2026.
Runners Up: Awarded ₹20,000.
Individual Awards: Prizes of ₹10,000 are designated for both the Best Male and Best Female Speakers.
Research and Drafting: Awards of ₹5,000 each are given for the Best Researcher and the Best Memorials for both the Complainant and the Opposite Party.

About the Organizers
The event is spearheaded by two major institutions dedicated to legal excellence and consumer rights:
NUSRL, Ranchi: Established in 2010, this university is dedicated to providing world-class legal education and is led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ashok R. Patil.
CCRP: The Chair on Consumer Research and Policy was established at NUSRL in 2024 by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs to act as a "Think Tank" for research and policy issues.
Ministry of Consumer Affairs: This pivotal government body, established in 1986, focuses on protecting consumer rights and fostering a consumer-centric market environment 

Location and Travel
The competition is held in Ranchi, known as the "City of Waterfalls," offering participants a chance to visit scenic locations like Hundru Falls and the Patratu Valley.

 The university is located approximately 18 km from Birsa Munda Airport and 14 km from Ranchi Junction Railway Station.
