NLIU-CLT NDA Policy Case Competition

NLIU-CLT NDA Policy Case Competition

The competition is organised by the NLIU Cell for Law and Technology (CLT), part of National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal. It is the flagship policy-case event under the umbrella of the upcoming festival Techtonic 2026, scheduled for January 16–18, 2026.

About the Competition
This competition — the first of its kind in India — challenges law students to draft policy proposals addressing real-world issues. Submissions undergo a dual-review process (technical review by NLIU-CLT and content review by experts). Shortlisted teams will advance to oral rounds and present before a panel, after which winners are decided based on combined performance in written and oral rounds.

Since its inception in 2021, the competition has gained nationwide recognition. Past themes have included Cyberbullying (2021), Internet Platform Regulation (2023, with external law-firm collaboration), and Artificial Intelligence & Intellectual Property (2024).

2026 Theme
This year’s theme is: “Governing Emotional and Medical Risks of AI.” It calls for policy proposals that ensure AI systems — especially those related to medicine or mental health — support, rather than harm, people’s emotional and physical well-being. Proposals must address safety standards, bias prevention, transparency, human-in-the-loop safeguards, ethical design, and accountability mechanisms.

Benefits and Highlights for Participants
Participants will have the opportunity to attend Round Table Conferences and CLT Talk Shows under Techtonic 2026, covering topics such as Media & Entertainment Law, online-gaming regulation, and broader tech-law issues. Shortlisted teams will receive mentorship from experts to refine their proposals before final presentation. Winners and high-performing teams will receive cash prizes, trophies, and internships with leading law firms or policy-think tanks. Participating also promises enhanced visibility and networking with industry professionals, academics, and peers. A certificate of participation will be issued to all teams.
