6th Prof. R.V. Dhanapalan National Moot Court Competition 2026

The Central Law College, Salem, is set to host the 6th edition of the Prof. R.V. Dhanapalan National Moot Court Competition on February 13 and 14, 2026. The event will take place at the college campus on Yercaud Main Road, Salem, and will be entirely conducted in English.

Eligibility and Participation

The competition is open exclusively to bona fide undergraduate students of 3-year or 5-year law programs recognized by the Bar Council of India. Each institution is allowed to send only one team. A team must consist of two speakers and one researcher. Participation is restricted to 24 teams, accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration fee for each team is Rs. 3,500.

Important Dates

Last date for final registration with fee payment: 6 January 2026
Last date to submit hard copy of registration form: 9 January 2026
Soft copy submission of memorials (both sides): 30 January 2026
Hard copy submission (both sides) with travel form: 2 February 2026
Desk registration & physical submission of memorials: 13 February 2026 at 9:00 a.m.
Orientation will be held online on 10 February 2026

Competition Format

The event comprises preliminary rounds followed by knockout rounds:

Preliminary Rounds: Each team argues once for petitioner and once for respondent with 15 minutes each and 2 minutes rebuttal. Top 8 teams advance.
Quarter-Finals: 20 minutes per side, plus 2 minutes rebuttal and 2 minutes sur-rebuttal.
Semi-Finals: 25 minutes per side, plus 5 minutes rebuttal and sur-rebuttal.
Final Round: 30 minutes per side, plus 5 minutes rebuttal and sur-rebuttal.

Memorial marks are added to match scores. Memorials are assessed for 10 marks per side.

Awards and Recognition

Winners will receive Rs. 15,000, while the runners-up will receive Rs. 10,000. Additional cash prizes of Rs. 3,000 each will be awarded under categories such as Most Disciplined Team, Best Student Advocate (Male), Best Student Advocate (Female), Best Researcher, and Best Memorial. Winners will receive trophies, mementos, and certificates. All participating students will receive certificates of participation.

Hospitality

Accommodation is provided to the three team members from 6:00 pm on 12th February 2026 up to 6:00 pm on 14th February 2026.  
Food and facilities are provided from the breakfast of 13th February 2026 up to the lunch of 14th February 2026.  
Local conveyance (transport between accommodation and venue) will be provided.
