Nirma University–NHRC Moot Court Competition 2026
The Institute of Law, Nirma University (ILNU), Ahmedabad, in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), announces the ILNU–NHRC Moot Court Competition 2026. The competition will be conducted offline on 6, 7, and 8 February 2026 at the ILNU campus.
Vision
The competition aims to create an academic space where students can engage with legal, environmental, human rights, and policy issues surrounding climate justice. It focuses on developing critical thinking, solution-oriented advocacy, and interdisciplinary understanding while encouraging future lawyers to address contemporary global challenges.
About the National Human Rights Commission
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is an autonomous statutory institution established under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. Guided by the UN-endorsed Paris Principles, the NHRC works to safeguard rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity. The Commission reviews complaints of human rights violations, evaluates treaty obligations, and promotes awareness and protection of human rights. With its longstanding reputation, the NHRC remains a global model for national human rights institutions.

Eligibility Criteria
The competition is open to students enrolled in a three-year LL.B. programme or a five-year integrated LL.B. programme at a Bar Council of India–recognised institution. Each institution may register a maximum of two teams.

30 October 2025 – Announcement
25 November 2025 – Registrations open and release of the proposition
20 December 2025 – Last date for registration
22 December 2025 – Last date to seek clarifications
30 December 2025 – Release of clarifications
8 January 2026 – Memorial submission
20 January 2026 – Results of memorial qualification
6 to 8 February 2026 – Offline Researchers’ Test and Oral Rounds
Registration Details
Initial registration fee: ₹1,000 per team
Additional fee upon memorial qualification: ₹5,000 per team
Teams must fill out the official registration form provided by the organisers.
Awards
Winner: Trophy, ₹50,000, and Certificate of Merit
Runner-up: Trophy, ₹30,000, and Certificate of Merit
Best Speaker: Trophy and ₹10,000
Best Researcher: Trophy and ₹10,000
Best Memorial: ₹10,000
All qualifying participants will receive appropriate certificates as per their performance.
