CBL, NUSRL Essay Writing Competition 2025
The Centre for Business Laws (CBL) at NUSRL, Ranchi has announced the Essay Writing Competition 2025 for students across India and abroad. The competition encourages analytical writing on contemporary issues in corporate and commercial law.
Theme and Suggested Areas
The main theme is Contemporary Developments in Corporate and Commercial Law. Participants may write on any relevant topic under this broad theme. Suggested areas include:
• Mergers and acquisitions
• Private equity and venture capital
• Competition and antitrust regimes
• Cross-border insolvency and restructuring
• International capital markets
• Banking and finance laws
• Investment and trade laws
• International commercial dispute resolution
• ESG and compliance frameworks
Submission Guidelines
Essays must be between 1,500 and 2,000 words, excluding footnotes. Joint authorship of up to two participants is allowed. Submissions must be original, unpublished, and must not exceed fifteen percent similarity.
Formatting rules:
• Times New Roman, size 12, 1.5 spacing, justified text
• Footnotes must follow OSCOLA (4th edition), size 10, single spacing
• Endnotes and descriptive footnotes are not permitted
• Essays must be submitted in both PDF and editable DOCX formats
• AI-generated drafting is strictly prohibited
Copyright for selected essays will vest with CBL, NUSRL.
Registration Details
Registration is online. The fee is ₹250 for single-authored entries and ₹400 for co-authored entries. The last date for registration is 5 January 2026 at 11:59 PM.
Prizes
• Winner: ₹5,000 and Certificate of Merit
• First Runner-up: ₹3,000 and Certificate of Merit
• Second Runner-up: ₹2,000 and Certificate of Merit
All registered participants will receive Certificates of Participation.
