2nd GLA National Moot Court Competition 2026 – Event Details

The Institute of Legal Studies and Research (ILSR), GLA University, Mathura, is organizing the second edition of its National Moot Court Competition, in academic collaboration with the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The event offers a focused learning experience on competition law and modern market-regulation concerns.

Competition Schedule and Venue

Dates: 6 and 7 February 2026
Venue: GLA University Campus, Mathura
Language of proceedings: English

A total of 32 teams will be admitted to the competition. Selection is strictly on a first-come-basis after verification of registration compliance.

Legal Issue and Moot Proposition

The case study for this edition examines possible collusive conduct in the creative and digital industry. Allegations involve wage-fixing and “no-poach” restraints among prominent production studios. Participating teams will examine:

– Whether informal coordination qualifies as an “agreement” under competition law
– Regulatory jurisdiction over labour-market conditions
– Market effects of wage cartels
– Competition-law remedies applicable to labour-market collusion

Eligibility, Team Formation, and Fee

Participation is open to law students enrolled in a five-year integrated programme or three-year LL.B. programme at any institution in India.

Team Structure Options:
– Two speakers and one researcher, or
– Two speakers, with one member also functioning as researcher

Registration Fee: ₹4,000 per team
Meals: Lunch on both days is included
Accommodation, breakfast, and dinner must be arranged independently by participants

The fee is non-refundable once registration is confirmed.

– Last date to seek clarifications: 10 January 2026

Competition Structure

The event comprises two Preliminary Rounds, followed by Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and the Final Round. Allocation of sides will be announced after submission.

Memorial Regulations:
– Maximum page length: 40 pages including annexures and references
– Cover colours:
– Petitioner: Blue
– Respondent: Red

Awards and Titles

This edition offers recognition through merit-based titles:

– Competition Winner
– Best Mooter (highest cumulative score in preliminary rounds)
– Best Memorial (highest combined memorial score)
– Best Researcher (based on a mandatory 100-mark researcher test)

Dress Code

Participants must appear in formal black-and-white attire throughout all rounds.
