About the Competition

The NLIU–Trilegal National Article Writing & Presentation Competition on Labour and Employment Laws (NTC-LEL) 2026 is a flagship academic initiative of the Centre for Labour Laws, NLIU Bhopal.

The competition is designed to promote high-quality research in labour and employment law by encouraging students to critically engage with evolving workplace realities, legal reforms, and regulatory challenges.

The competition is conducted in two stages:

Phase I – Manuscript Review
All submissions undergo a four-stage double-blind editorial review conducted by the CLL Editorial Board and Trilegal.

Phase II – Presentation & Defence
The top 15 shortlisted authors will present and defend their papers before a panel of senior Trilegal professionals and leading academics.

The competition is open to students enrolled in:

LL.B. (Hons.)

LL.B.

LL.M.


from any recognised university during the academic year 2025–2026.

Submissions must fall within the broad domain of Labour and Employment Law, including:

Artificial Intelligence, technology governance and digital workforce transformation

Data protection, algorithmic management and workplace surveillance

Gig economy, platform work and worker protection

Mergers, acquisitions and workforce restructuring

New labour codes and industrial relations

The future of work and employment policy reform



Sub-Themes

Participants may write on, among others:

Labour due diligence in corporate restructuring

Employment cost allocation in mergers and demergers

Post-merger HR and compensation harmonisation

Workforce downsizing and reputational risk

Key employee retention strategies

Outsourcing, automation and contractual safeguards

Compliance under the Industrial Relations Code, 2020

Fixed-term employment and social security

Gig worker classification and legal protections

AI-based performance management and bias control

Remote work and cross-border employment

ESG reporting on labour standards

Employment disputes and arbitration in platform work

Submission Requirements

Abstract: 250–300 words summarising the paper

Plagiarism Limit: Maximum 15% similarity

Co-authorship: Up to two authors permitted

Font: Times New Roman

Body Text: Size 12, 1.5 spacing, justified

Footnotes: Size 10, single spaced, justified

Citation Style: OSCOLA (4th Edition)

Submissions must be uploaded through the official online submission portal provided in the brochure.

Single Author: ₹650

Two Authors: ₹1,100
