1st National PIL Drafting Competition 2025 (Virtual Mode) – Registrations Open | DBRANLU, Sonepat
The Centre for Labour Studies at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Law University (DBRANLU), Sonepat, is organizing the 1st National PIL Drafting Competition 2025 as part of the National Conclave on “Functioning of Constitution: Celebrating 75 Years of Indian Constitutional Journey.” The competition is aimed at enhancing the drafting skills of law students while engaging them in meaningful legal discourse on contemporary labour and social justice issues.

Purpose: To encourage professional constitutional drafting and promote the use of PIL as a tool for public welfare and legal reform.

Eligibility and Team Structure
The competition is open to all students currently enrolled in an LL.B. (3-year/5-year) or LL.M. programme in India. Participants may register individually or in teams of two, and cross-university teams are allowed. Substitution of team members will not be permitted after the registration deadline.
Registration Fee and Payment
Participants from external institutions must pay Rs. 500 for a team of two or Rs. 300 for individual participation. Participants from DBRANLU must pay Rs. 300 for a team of two or Rs. 200 for individual entries. All fees are non-refundable.

Participants must upload proof of payment and transaction ID in the registration form. After successful registration, a unique Team Code will be issued and should be used for all further correspondence.
Submission Requirements and Formatting
The PIL must be submitted in both PDF and Word formats. The file should be named in the format: TCXX_PIL2025. The Google Form link for submission will be sent with the proposition.
The cover page must include the Team Code at the top right corner, the name and year of the competition, and the title of the case, if applicable. No identifying details other than the Team Code may be included.
Formatting specifications are as follows:
Word Limit: 2,500 words including footnotes
Font: Times New Roman
Font Size: 12 for main text, 10 for footnotes
Line Spacing: 1.5 in main text; single in footnotes
Alignment: Justified
Margins: 1 inch on all sides
Citation Format: ILI Style
Plagiarism and AI Policy
Plagiarism will be permitted up to 10 percent. Between 11–20 percent plagiarism will incur a deduction of 3 marks, and between 21–40 percent will incur a deduction of 6 marks.
Use of AI tools is strictly prohibited. All submissions will be checked using Turnitin and AI detection software.

Framing of Issues – 15 marks
Depth of Research and Legal Framework – 15 marks
Locus Standi, Maintainability and Legal Reasoning – 10 marks
Researching and Drafting Quality – 10 marks
Specificity and Appropriateness of Prayer – 10 marks
Awards and Recognition
First Prize: Rs. 7000 and E-Certificate of Merit
Second Prize: Rs. 5000 and E-Certificate of Merit
Third Prize: Rs. 3000 and E-Certificate of Merit
All registered participants will receive an E-Certificate of Participation.
