The Moot Court Committee at the School of Law, CT University, Ludhiana, is proud to announce the 5th Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Nationwide Moot Court Competition (Offline). This prestigious event is organized in honor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar—the primary architect of the Indian Constitution, an eminent jurist, and India’s first Law and Justice Minister. The competition serves as a premier platform for law students to refine their advocacy, legal research, and articulation skills in a challenging courtroom environment.
About the Organizers
CT University (CTU) is a leading educational institution in Punjab, recognized for its alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and its commitment to transforming students into future leaders. The university boasts a technologically advanced campus, including specialized labs like the Robotics and Automation Lab and the BOSCH Lab.
The School of Law (SOL), established in 2018, has rapidly become one of the most respected law schools in the region. SOL offers a wide range of programs, including integrated B.A. LL.B., B.Com. Eligibility and Team Composition
Eligibility: The competition is open to 'bonafide' students currently pursuing a 3-year or 5-year integrated LL.B. or an LL.M. program from any institution recognized by the Bar Council of India.
Team Structure: Each team must consist of three members: two designated speakers and one researcher. Members must be identified at the time of registration, and no substitutions are allowed without prior organizational approval.

Moot Proposition Overview
The 2026 competition centers on a complex legal battle involving The State of Punjab v. Amit Sharma & Anr.. The case involves several high-stakes issues:
Digital Impersonation and Cybercrime: Allegations involving the use of encrypted channels (Telegram, X, Instagram) to spread misinformation and conduct unauthorized crowdfunding.
Constitutional Validity: Challenges to the constitutionality of Sections 196 and 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, regarding free speech under Article 19(1)(a) and reasonable restrictions under Article 19(2).
Procedural Law: Debates over the necessity of mandatory sanctions under Section 217 BNSS for investigations and the territorial jurisdiction of cyber offences.
High Court Jurisdiction: Whether a High Court exceeds its jurisdiction by quashing an FIR at the pre-charge-sheet stage in complex cyber-related cases.
Submission and Scoring Guidelines
Memorials: Teams must submit memorials for both the Petitioner and Respondent in PDF and Word formats by March 26, 2026. Formatting must follow the Bluebook 20th Edition. The Petitioner’s cover must be Blue, and the Respondent’s must be Red.
Oral Rounds: Conducted entirely offline at the CT University campus. Speakers have 15 minutes each for submissions, with an additional 5 minutes allotted for rebuttals/sur-rebuttals.
Evaluation: Memorials account for 30% of the total score, while Oral Submissions account for 70%.
