The Fairfield School of Law has officially announced the 5th FIMT Moot Court Competition 2026. This prestigious national event, held in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), invites law students from across India to demonstrate their legal acumen and advocacy skills.
The competition will be held in physical mode at the FIMT Campus in New Delhi from March 12th to March 14th, 2026. Below is a comprehensive guide to the essential details, rules, and deadlines for participants.
Core Event Information
The 5th FIMT Moot Court Competition is organized by the Moot Court Society, "Justice Prevails". This year's collaboration with the NHRC highlights a focus on human rights and constitutional principles, providing a high-stakes environment for aspiring legal professionals.
Dates: March 12th, 13th, and 14th, 2026.
Venue: FIMT Campus, Kapashera, New Delhi 110037.

Eligibility and Team Composition
Participation is open to all students currently enrolled in a bona fide law course or its equivalent at any recognized college, institution, or university.
Team Size: Each team must consist of exactly three members.
Roles: Two members are designated as Speakers, and one member is designated as the Researcher.
Identification: Teams must maintain anonymity throughout the competition. No member may wear an institutional ID card, and the team will be identified solely by a randomly assigned "Team Code".
Registration Process and Fees
Interested teams must register online through the provided link and complete the payment formalities.
Registration Deadline: February 15th, 2026 (11:59 PM).
Registration Fee: Rs. 3,100/- (Non-refundable).
Accommodation: Registration fees do not cover accommodation; however, accommodation and transportation can be arranged upon specific request by the teams.
Payment Method: Payments must be made via bank transfer to the Fairfield Institute of Management and Technology account (HDFC Bank, Account No: 50200024027620, IFSC: HDFC0004404).
Key Deadlines
To ensure a smooth competition experience, teams must adhere to the following timeline:
Final Date for Registration: February 15th, 2026.
Allotment of Team Codes: By February 18th, 2026.
Clarification Requests: Must be submitted by February 19th, 2026.
Release of Clarifications: February 23rd, 2026.
Memorial Submission (Soft Copy): March 1st, 2026 (11:59 PM).
Memorial Submission Guidelines
Preparation of the written memorial is a critical phase of the competition. Teams must prepare submissions for both the Appellant and the Respondent.
Formatting and Citations
Citation Style: The 22nd Edition of the Bluebook Method of Citation must be used.
Page Limit: The memorial must not exceed 30 pages, including the cover page.
Structure: Mandatory sections include the Cover Page, Table of Contents, Index of Authorities, Statement of Facts (max 2 pages), Summary of Arguments (max 3 pages), Arguments Advanced (max 15 pages), and Prayer.
Typography: The body text should be in Times New Roman, size 12, with 1.5 line spacing. Footnotes should be size 10 with 1.0 spacing.
Color Coding: The Appellant's memorial must have a Blue cover page, and the Respondent's must have a Red cover page.
Submission Protocol
Soft copies must be emailed in both PDF and Microsoft Word formats. Late submissions will result in a deduction of 1 mark per day of delay.
Competition Structure
The competition consists of four distinct oral stages and a written test for researchers:
Preliminary Rounds (March 12): Every team argues once. Qualification for the next round is based on oral scores (and memorial scores in the event of a tie).
Quarter-Final Rounds (March 13): A knockout round featuring the top 8 teams.
Semi-Final Rounds (March 14): Knockout pairings decided by a draw of lots.
Final Round (March 14): The culminating argument to determine the national winner.
Researcher’s Test (March 12): A one-hour MCQ-based test conducted in physical mode to evaluate the researcher's knowledge of the law and the specific moot proposition.
Prizes and Awards
The 5th FIMT Moot Court Competition offers a total prize pool exceeding Rs. 1,00,000/-.
Winning Team: Rs. 51,000/-
Runners-Up: Rs. 31,000/-
Best Orator (1 & 2): Rs. 5,100/- each
Best Researcher: Rs. 5,100/-
Best Memorial: Rs. 5,100/-
All participants will receive Certificates of Participation, while winners and semi-finalists will receive Merit Certificates.
Code of Conduct and Dress Code
Professionalism is mandatory. Participants must follow a strict dress code:
Females: White/black salwar and white kurta with a black blazer, or a white shirt and black trousers with a black blazer.
Males: White shirt, black trousers, black tie, and black blazer.
Teams are expected to maintain court decorum and avoid any unethical behavior, including scouting or contacting the drafter of the moot problem.
