About the Competition
The Trade Mark Opposition Competition is a unique, practice-oriented intellectual property law competition organised by the IPR Cell of Government Law College, Mumbai. It is designed to simulate real-world trademark opposition proceedings under the Trade Marks Act, 1999 and the Trade Marks Rules, 2017.
Unlike conventional moot courts, this competition focuses on drafting, evidentiary filings, and oral advocacy before the Registrar of Trade Marks, providing participants with hands-on exposure to trademark opposition practice.

Eligibility
Open to students pursuing 3-year LL.B. or 5-year integrated law courses
LL.M. students holding a law degree are not eligible
Each team must consist of 2 members from the same institution

Only one team per institution

Provisional Registration Deadline: 20 December 2025 (11:59 AM)
Final Registration Deadline: 23 December 2025
Registration Fee: ₹3,500 per team

Oral Rounds
Online Preliminary Oral Rounds: 31 January & 1 February 2026
Offline Oral Rounds (Quarter-finals, Semi-finals & Finals):
13 & 14 February 2026 at Government Law College, Mumbai
Only 8 teams qualify for the offline rounds based on written submissions and preliminary oral rounds.

Runner-up Team: ₹30,000
Best Oralist (Speaker): ₹10,000
