WIPO IP Moot Court Competition 2026 – Applications Open Until December 15, 2025
Overview
The World Intellectual Property Organization has opened applications for the second edition of its international moot court competition focusing on intellectual property law. The competition allows participating students to engage with complex issues of industrial property and refine written and oral advocacy skills.
Eligibility
The competition is open to law students who:
• Are below 35 years of age
• Are enrolled at a university in a WIPO Member State
Selection will be made based on the quality of the video application submitted within the deadline.
Areas Covered
The moot problem will examine issues within:
• Patents
• Trademarks
• Industrial designs
• Trade secrets
Participants may be required to address jurisdictional concerns, scope of protection, enforcement mechanisms and remedies available under IP law.
Competition Structure
The competition will take place in four stages:
• Video application round
• Written submissions
• Online oral rounds
• In-person finals in Geneva, Switzerland
Only eight teams will advance to the international-stage finals.
Important Dates
• Application Period: October 6 – December 15, 2025
• Announcement of Selected Teams & Release of Problem: December 22, 2025
• Deadline for Clarification Requests: January 16, 2026
• Responses to Clarifications: January 23, 2026
• Written Submissions Deadline: February 23, 2026
• Online Rounds and Result Announcement: Late March 2026
• Quarter-Finals (Geneva): June 24, 2026
• Semi-Finals (Geneva): June 25, 2026
• Grand Finale and Awards (Geneva): June 26, 2026
Submission Requirements
Applicants must review the official guidelines and prepare a video application in the specified format. Teams must submit the Registration Form, signed by the Dean or authorized faculty representative, to youth@wipo.int on or before December 15, 2025. A detailed FAQ document is available for additional clarity.
Why Participate
The competition provides international exposure to practical legal problems in the field of intellectual property. Participants gain stronger research abilities, memorial drafting skills and courtroom presentation experience. Finalists will argue before experts in Geneva, offering network-building opportunities and global academic recognition.
