Geeta Institute of Law (GIL), Panipat, Delhi-NCR, presents LegisThon 2026, a national-level law fest envisioned as a “Marathon of Legal Minds.” The fest brings together law students, academicians, and legal professionals to foster academic dialogue and strengthen practical legal skills across diverse areas of law.

Key Competitions under LegisThon 2026

1. 16th GIL National Moot Court Competition

– Dates: 28 February to 1 March 2026
– Eligibility: Students pursuing 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programmes
– Team Composition: Three members (Two Speakers and One Researcher)

Moot Proposition
The moot problem addresses complex legal issues involving:
– Prohibition of Child Marriage Act
– Admissibility of electronic evidence under Section 65B of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam
– Copyright infringement and IPR theft
– Criminal liability under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita concerning suspicious death and script theft

Registration Fee
– ₹6,000 per team (inclusive of accommodation)

Prizes
– Winner: ₹31,000 + Trophy
– Runner-Up: ₹15,000 + Trophy
– Best Speaker, Best Researcher, Best Memorial: ₹3,100 each

2. National Judgment Writing Competition

– 30 minutes to read the problem
– 60 minutes to write the judgment
– Maximum word limit: 3,500 words
– Registration Fee: ₹1,100 per participant (without accommodation)

3. National Client Counselling Competition

– Date: 27 February 2026
– Legal Themes: New Criminal Laws, Family Law, and Contract Law
– Team Composition: Three members (Two Advocates and One Client)

Format
– Total duration: 25 minutes
– 20 minutes consultation
– 5 minutes post-interview reflection

Registration Fee
– ₹2,100 per team (without accommodation)

Prizes
– Best Team: ₹11,000 + Trophy
– Runner-Up Team: ₹3,100 + Trophy
