GNLU Crime & Justice Blog – Submission Guidelines

The Gujarat National Law University Crime & Justice Blog invites original, analytical, and well-researched contributions on contemporary issues in criminal law and the criminal justice system. Submissions that merely summarise existing law or reproduce settled legal positions are not accepted.



Scope and Eligibility

The Blog focuses on current and emerging issues in criminal law, criminal procedure, and the criminal justice system.

Submissions are open to:

Students

Legal practitioners

Academicians


Articles must be analytical and original in approach.




Categories of Submissions

The Blog accepts three types of manuscripts. Word limits may be relaxed only in exceptional cases at the discretion of the Editorial Board.

Blogs
700 to 1200 words
Short, analytical, and opinion-driven pieces engaging with recent developments or emerging criminal law issues.

Short Articles
1200 to 1500 words
Research-based and in-depth discussion of statutes, judicial decisions, policy reforms, or legal trends.

Case Comments
700 to 1000 words
Critical evaluation of recent or landmark judgments, focusing on legal reasoning, context, and impact.




Formatting and Writing Style

Language must be British English

File format must be Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)

Submissions must be anonymous

No name, college, or personal details should appear anywhere in the file

Any identifying information will lead to rejection


Co-authorship is allowed for up to two authors


Text formatting requirements:

Font: Times New Roman

Line spacing: 1.5

Main text: Size 12, justified

Headings: Size 14, centered

Sub-headings: Size 12, bold, centered




Citations and Plagiarism Policy

References must be provided as hyperlinks within the text wherever possible

Footnotes are strongly discouraged

Endnotes in OSCOLA format may be used only if online sources are unavailable

Plagiarism limit is strictly 15 percent

Any submission exceeding this limit will be rejected




Submission Procedure

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis

Articles must be submitted through the official Google Form available on the Blog’s website

During submission, authors must select appropriate topic categories


Suggested subject areas include:

Crimes against property

Crimes against the human body

Offences against women and children

Cyber and technology crimes

Offences against the State and public tranquillity

Socio-economic offences and white-collar crime

Criminal procedure


Authors are free to write on any relevant criminal law topic even if it is not listed above.



Review and Publication Process

All submissions undergo a blind peer review

The Editorial Board aims to communicate acceptance or rejection within 14 days

If no response is received within two weeks, authors may write to
crimeandjustice.blog@gnlu.ac.in

The Board may suggest revisions, and publication is conditional upon timely compliance

Authors must not directly contact Editorial Board members regarding their submissions




Copyright and Publication Policy

Upon submission, the author grants the Blog an exclusive licence to consider and publish the work

If the submission is rejected, the licence automatically expires

Once published, the article may not be republished in substantially similar form elsewhere without prior approval

Cross-posting is allowed only with permission and must acknowledge the original publication with a link
