20th All India Moot Court Competition 2026 by Trivandrum Law College – Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer Ever Rolling Trophy
Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram is hosting the 20th edition of its prestigious All India Moot Court Competition, conducted in honour of Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer. Organized by the Moot Court Society of GLC Thiruvananthapuram, the competition celebrates excellence in advocacy, research, and courtroom presentation.
Competition Schedule
The event will take place over three days as follows:
– 5, 6, and 7 February 2026
– Inaugural Ceremony and Draw of Lots: 5 February 2026
– Preliminary and Quarter-Final Rounds: 6 February 2026
– Researcher Interview: 6 February 2026
– Semi-Final and Final Rounds: 7 February 2026
About the Institution and Trophy
Government Law College, Thiruvananthapuram was established in 1875 and continues to uphold its motto, Fiat justitia ruat caelum (Let justice be done though the heavens fall). The competition commemorates Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer, noted for advancing judicial activism and legal aid reforms. He served as a judge of the Supreme Court and received the Padma Vibhushan in 1999.
Registration Details
Important Deadlines:
– Registration opens: 5 December 2025
– Registration closes: 15 December 2025
– Clarification deadline: 18 December 2025
– Soft copy memorial submission: On or before 7 January 2026
– Hard copy submission: On or before 23 January 2026
– Memorial screening results: 15 January 2026
Registration Fee: Rs. 4,000 per team (non-refundable)
Eligible teams will be shortlisted based solely on memorial scores. Only 16 teams will advance to the preliminary rounds.
A penalty of one mark will apply for each day of delayed soft submission.
Memorials must remain anonymous and must only reflect the allotted team code.
Eligibility and Team Structure
Eligibility is restricted to undergraduate law students enrolled in recognized three-year or five-year LL.B. programs in India. Postgraduate law students and students enrolled through correspondence mode are not eligible.
Team formation:
– Minimum two participants and maximum three
– Teams may comprise two speakers and one researcher
– No team mentors or external members are allowed to accompany teams
Competition Rules and Format
– All rounds will be conducted in English
– Teams must prepare written and oral arguments for both sides
– Memorial length must not exceed 30 typed pages, excluding preliminary sections
– Four hard copies of each memorial must be submitted
– Covers must be colour-coded: Blue for Petitioner and White for Respondent
– Citation must follow Bluebook, 21st Edition
Time Limits for Oral Rounds
Preliminary and Quarter-Final rounds: 35 minutes per side
– Each speaker must argue for at least 10 minutes and may not exceed 20 minutes
Semi-Final and Final rounds: 45 minutes per side
– Each speaker may not exceed 30 minutes
Evaluation Parameters
– Oral rounds: Individual marking out of 100
– Memorials: Evaluated out of 100
– Best Researcher: Determined on memorial score plus interview assessment
The final round will be judged by a bench comprising Honourable Judges of the High Court of Kerala.
Dress Code
Female participants:
– White saree with black blouse / White salwar with black vest / Black suit
Male participants:
– White or black pants with white shirt and tie / Black suit
All participants must wear the official badge during sessions.

Awards will be given for:
– Best Team
– Second Best Team
– Best Speaker
– Best Researcher
– Best Memorial
Winners will receive trophies and certificates.
